Driving onto the train at Kandersteg

Standard

Because the Alps between Kandersteg and the Rhône valley are impassible, the Swiss completed the 14.6-km long Lötschberg tunnel in 1913. For a CHF20,– toll, you can put your car on a train that takes you through the tunnel to Goppenstein where you drive off again. There are several such train ferries in Switzerland, this was the first of two we used on this drive.
