I have tonsillitis. Miserable. Really miserable. Fevers, headaches, swollen throat, neck sore, can’t swallow, can’t eat, etc. I started antibiotics yesterday. Alex and I have been playing musical beds.

6.2 kilos lost. That is about 13.7 pounds. Of course, a couple of those is due to me having no appetite for a few days coupled with the inability to swallow anything. It is mostly due to cutting out sugar and processed, simple carbs. It really hasn’t been difficult. I need to start back exercising.

Our first Christmas in Australia. Very strange. Although, the weather has been cooler and rainy, like a British summer. Looks like Christmas day may be mostly sunny! No idea what we are doing for Christmas. The kids have presents under the tree and Santa is coming. Tom and I didn’t get anything. Our upcoming South Pacific holiday in April is birthday and Christmas combined.

School, daycare, preschool and all activities are done until summer holidays are over. Alex can start at Sofia’s daycare when he is two. Sofia has two more years before she can start school here in Australia because she misses the cutoff date for five year olds! Sofia is starting a ballet class once a week in addition to the music class Alex and Sofia take from my friend Kate.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. I have some new photos I will try to post on here soon.

  1. I’m glad it’s not a hot summer, there’s nothing worse than being sick in the heat! The antibiotics should kick in soon and then you’ll feel better. You NEED to eat sugar at Xmas. 🙂

I must say I’m glad Sofia is waiting another year. I was very close to the cutoff but my mother reasoned I was going to be in school for at least 13 years, hopefully 17, but I was only a little girl once. Being the oldest one in the class was always advantageous as well.

Stay hydrated and I hope Santa brings a wonderful Christmas to all.

  2. So sorry to read you’re ill. May that antibiotic kick them bad boys in the arse! My dad, when he lived in Australia, spoke of sun and BBQ on Christmas! Kinda…unseasonal. 🙂

  3. Oh no! One thing I didn’t think was fair about being a parent was picking up all the viruses and crud your kids brought home from preschool or daycare. I hope you feel better soon: it’s also tough going through the holidays when you’re sick, and you’re the MOM. Take care and get some rest.
